Whether you are considering boarding at Caves Farm or will be attending one of our shows or clinics, you will find our facilities are second to none.
Our five barns were lovingly constructed by Amish craftsmen with 12x12 stalls and larger accommodations for horses with special requirements. Each barn has its own tack room, wide aisles, and heated wash stalls. Excellent air flow is provided by natural ventilation supplemented by overhead fans. Bedding is either straw, sawdust, or pine chips as you wish.
The farm’s quite extraordinary indoor facility consists of 50,000 square feet under roof with a 120 x 320 foot arena. The arena’s superb footing consists of Eurofelt and crushedlimestone – a wonderful combination which provides just the right balance for support and cushioning.
Overhead lighting consists of 103 mercury vapor fixtures which illuminate every corner of the ring. Our indoor footing is maintained at optimum conditions with an overhead misting system and the farm’s extensive inventory of conditioning equipment. The grandstand seating offers an excellent viewing or filming perspective and our heated viewing area provides comfortable seating during the chilly months.
The farm has three full-sized (165x350) all weather outdoor rings with crushed limestone footing, overhead lighting, sound systems, and judges’ stands. We also have a round pen for lunge-line training and a portable dressage ring which can be placed under roof or in an outdoor ring depending on the weather.
Pasture & Land
We believe that maximum turnout is best for most horses and all our fields have three board fencing and airy run-in sheds. We also produce our own hay which is consistently excellent. Our feeding regimen consists principally of orchard grass hay which is supplemented with alfalfa and timothy depending on each horse’s specific requirements.
Our main barn has a club house with a kitchen, bathroom, and fully equipped laundry room. The farm’s four stall enclosed farrier facility is centrally located between our three principal barns.
The Caves “Party Barn” is the focal point and entertainment center for our farm. The barn was constructed in 1838 in Lancaster County and moved to the farm in 2003. This quite amazing structure is well known in the area as a wonderful facility for special occasions, charitable events, and boarder get-togethers.
